Gotcha! Since my propane regulator broke on me, I've decide to build another burner for my furnace. I'm constantly refining my furnace and burner by a complex scientific process known as "tweaking." This time, I think I'll build a choke for it, to allow better Oxygen Control. I'm also going to see if I can smooth the end of the burner pipe, and maybe add a ventura (reversed cone, like the base of a rocket) to slow the flame down and improve the burn. In the mean time, I've decided to g...

My daddy always told me if I wasn't careful I'd end up digging ditches. And he was right! I've got a new one to add to my resume. I got a call yesterday from my pastor asking if I was busy, and I'd already spent the morning putting out applications (I think I may get one of them, nbs - matress/furniture salesman extrodordanaire?) so I went over. He was laying water pipe himself, and he's almost 70, so he wanted help. So I grabbed a pickaxe and shovel and dug out a narrow trench about t...

Have you ever tried to commit suicide? Thought about it much? I have, but I don't think I'd ever do it, because of my belief in the afterlife. I mean, if you knew you were dead and that was it, alright. But can you imagine killing yourself only to be faced with life eternal? That's depressing. (Or eternal damnation if you're not saved or you're more of a catholic variation of christianity.) So how would you do it? I personally like the idea of going outside on an easily hosed down surf...

Still looking for a job. Possible considerations presently? Music/choir teacher, salesman, cop, Security agent for overseas (Iraq) government contractor (mercenary), govt. contractor, construction, farrier? However in honor of High Fidelity, a truly cool movie, plus it has John Cusak, another plus, here's my top five all time jobs, money and era not being an issue. 5. Stage actor, possibly opera or musical theater, but definitely stage, not movies. 4. Head henchman to evil genius, bu...

Here's something for all you Lovecraft fans that I found awhile from an ad on the Sluggy Freelance site. Sweet. I'm guess I'm doing their advertising for them, but I like their stuff. Been there done that, watched the Ancient Ones from the Stygian depths come forth and conquer? Get the What would Cthulu do T-shirt. I love these guys, they're plush cthulu, and plush cthulu elvis. Hail to the king baby. Hail to the king. They've got more cthulu kitsch here, including plu...

Just got back a few hours ago. Very very tired. I met my stepfather in Temple about 11 o'clock Tuesday, and we drove south to I-10 in Houston and headed East. It took about 10 hours to get to Baton Rouge, but over six to go those last forty miles or so. I knew it was going to be a bad day when we had to stop when a trucker got killed as we came into Baton Rouge. I don't know who he was, but he went off the road on the right and barely made it back on okay while we were behind him. We w...

It's on for tommorow, going to N.O. Hopefully in and out in one day, but who knows? Here's an interesting email I sent today. You've probably got most or all of this covered, but here's what I thought of anyways. Probably won't need most of it, but better safe than sorry. Food - I got 4 M.R.E.s but I don't know if you can eat them. Water - Water. Camel Backs would be a good idea if you've got them. I've also got a couple of canteens, but honestly, they taste terrible. Bleach - the...

Over the last few days, I've grown tired of seeing comments like this float up like the fecal matter they are, over and over again, by people desperately looking for a scapegoat to hang the blame on. "That was a BS post, US help was so slow, so slow to act compaired to the actions that where taken for the victums of the tsunami over sea's. " HELLO! Aid is coming, and has been arriving as much as is possible for an impossible situation. But there's not a rescue or aid worker in the world...

There's a scene I like in Rushmore. The kid playing Max has just met Bill Murray's character, and they're siiting, facing forward. Max turns to Bill with this completely out of place question, and says "You were in Vietnam?" "Yeah" "Were you in the shit?" Bill Murray turns his head, with that deadpan look that says I hate myself and the entire world, then faces forward and says "Yeah, I was in the shit." Guess where I'm going......maybe. I talked to my parents on the phone today, and a cou...

"All other holidays are in a more or less degree connected with conflicts and battles of man's prowess over man, of strife and discord for greed and power, of glories achieved by one nation over another. Labor Day...is devoted to no man, living or dead, to no sect, race, or nation." -Samuel Gompers, founder of the AFL- Welcome to another long weekend. You sit there at home, and completely fail to remember the true meaning of this holiday, those who.....oh wait, this holiday's for you. ...

And keep it subtle, please. Pictures are okay, but if you have to say why, you've probably gone too far. Washington monument, power antennas, Kim Jong Il's Chu Che Tower, the golden arches, right before the eye opens on Bruce Campell's shoulder in Army of Darkness.
