Why get worked up over an innocent remark. Kerry is a war hero who faught in a war and did not hide behind the clout that a powerful congressman can provide a wayward son. The word kid is only used in a gesture of affection and there is nothing to get so hot under the collar.

If you were listening carefully, Kerry told you that his plan is to speed up the training of Iraqi police and increase international participation in order to begin withdrawing troops, if the situation allows, six months from now.
As for calling troops "kids," I don't like it that much, but it was an innocent remark. I don't think he was being patronizing.

In the second debate, Edwards stated that they could speed up the training of police by providing academies outside of Iraq, if need be. Because the security in Iraq isn't such to train the police there. I don't know, maybe we could put such an academy in a neighboring Arab country. Maybe even Jordan!
It's a good plan. It just seems I've heard it somewhere before.

Hmm, I wonder where too. Good plan, hmm, where have we heard it before...
UAE is also going to be used as a training place for a possible German force to come into train soldiers, ONCE they are done in Afghanistan.
Also some of our current allies say they might withdraw their troops under Kerry, UH OH!!

Question for both of you: Are you in the US Military? Are you a US Soldier, Sailor, Airman, or Marine? Unless the answer is yes, don't even pretend to think you understand how that feels. Even I don't fully understand how that feels, and I've been married to one of those "kids" for longer than he's been in the military.

First off, let me say my mom just retired after 20 years in the Navy as Petty Officer First Class and my dad was in just for a few years after Vietnam. I am 21 years old. The people fighting over in Iraq for the most part are KIDS! I consider my peers KIDS. Yes, that's right, old people that have absolutely no experience fighting in war are sending people MY AGE (AKA KIDS) over to die. Just remember, the people that are responsible checked the box for non-overseas service and got MANY deferments because of "other reasons." People that are 18-21 that kill do not have the right mindset or maturity to handle what they are doing. They think it's a game. That's right...killing people is a game. I have a couple of friends that have come back and they are NOT the same joyous people that I knew. A buddy of mine actually said he wants to go back because once you learn to kill, it's almost a habit that you don't want to stop.
So many young Marines, that I would call KIDS, come back mentally unstable and unable to conform to normal society. The number of returning Marines/sailors (on that base I lived in Glenview during the first Gulf War) that got divorced because of domestic violence is unreal. None of you know what you're talking about. Bunch of chickenhawks I say.
Neither of my parents were very political and haven't voted...until this year. Needless to say, all the members of my military family are NOT voting for Bush in 2004.

Hmm, no sir I don't agree and I WAS in the Military.
Don't have the right mindset or maturity, why don't you come back and talk about this after you go through Military training.
Until than you can be so deep in it but still not know, take it from me I didn't know half the shit I thought I knew as an Army Brat that I learned when I joined the Army.

And that qualifies YOU to make this comment how?
I consider my peers KIDS.
Well, you may consider yourself a kid and if so, then I invite you to turn in your voting card. Kids shouldn't vote. It is a right and responsibility granted to adults in this nation.
Neither of my parents were very political and haven't voted...until this year.
And, apparently, their social irresponsibilty transferred to you...
Just remember, the people that are responsible checked the box for non-overseas service and got MANY deferments because of "other reasons."
I'm taking your quotes out of order, but..... huh? What is that about? Are you saying that older servicemembers are staying safe while sending younger ones to war zones? I'd like you to cite some verifiable sources and then maybe I'll pass to you the email addresses of Soldiers over the age of 30 that are over there serving alongside the junior Soldiers (I say maybe because I'll have to get their permission first).
Man, every time I promise myself I won't feed the trolls...... another one, prettier than the last pops up... Troll me if you wish, but nobody talks shit like this about Soldiers around me.

Gee gosh, my last five years in the army practically pale to nothing compared to your vast span as a military brat. Or grim's, or chiprj's, or psuedosoldier's, or geezer's (notice a theme here?)experience in the military too. We must not know what we're talking about, right?
We're all kids too, right? 28, 28, thirties, 42, hell if I know the rest of the ages, and as for not going overseas deferments, there's a lot of guy's in my unit overseas right now that would love to know what the hell deferment you're talking about, I surely don't.
Better a chickenhawk that supports us, than a chickenshit that undermines us from behind and condescends to us by implying that we are too young and too stupid to know what we're doing.
