Well, you can tack the Spc back onto Spc NBS. I'm DEPed (delayed entry) back into the Army. I get to leave for beautiful Norfolk, Virginia on the 11th.
Unsurprisingly, recruiter said it was stripes for skills, so naturally it's not. No easy promotion for me.
Was told I would have the option of travelling by POV and my personal stuff/army gear, (yeah, right) so instead I get flown there with nothing but my overnight bag. I can however ship it myself out of pocket, or fly back and drive it up if I can get enough leave time to go back for it. Sure. Right.
Was told I would have choice of duty station. Was told at MEPS (where you enlist) I would not, but then the damned fools went and put it in my DEP contract, so I'm gonna yell like hell to get it approved. Squeaky wheels and what not.
Was told I would get a bonus, so naturally at MEPS they said no bonus. This was rectified after much fuss and a two-hour delay, although it was less than originally told.
The hell with it. I'm back in. I've got enough to make a house payment tommorow, so it's not being immediately foreclosed on. (car payment too, wow) I in fact have several people interested in buying the place. Woot. Maybe the albatross will finally drop from my neck after all. Hell, I could have my finances at least caught back up by about March.
Going into a shortage MOS, I probably will make E-5 in nothing flat after finishing the school. Then E-6 is only a year away. I may start off with nothing, but given time and a couple of hundred dollars, the post office will provide. Then back to Ft. Hood. I hope. If I get Sill, I may have to go on a killing spree.
No car is no car is no car, but I'll figure something out. I am a mechanic. Sort of. You'd be surprised what cheap "POS never ran right" cars I can resurrect from the grave and get ticking. Life is not all sunshine and roses, but it may be turning to light cloud cover, with a pleasant smell of rosemary on the breeze.
Besides, just imagine the conversations........."What did you say???!!!" "Sir, all I said I was that I'm the biggest and best pianist you'll ever see around here.........."
