Another brief update, still fixing cars.

I fixed mine yesterday, the Mustang is back on the streets, as of yesterday. Of course, I also noticed I had an expired registration and inspection, so it's back in the driveway, as of today. In fact, while it's running like a dream, there is a horrific clangy type noise upon starting or really low idle, that makes me suspect a cracked flywheel (I hope not), a bad torque converter, or maybe if I'm lucky, a starter clutch that's not disengaging all the way. It goes away at any kind of increased engine speed, so who knows?

At any rate, it's not leaking, and it shifts like a dream now. Hell, I'll probably get two or three miles to the gallon (and the old rate was 11 to 13 mpg, so that's saying something) more now that the tranny's shipshape.

The army thing is going well. I passed my audition last week. Later this week, or early next week, I go to MEPS and reenlist. Then off to school? Nope. I'm effectively DEPPed. I go nowhere and don't start earning pay until the class starts in late January. Crap.

In the meantime, I'm desperately trying to stall foreclosure on my house. If I can make a payment in the next 11 days, I can buy some time. But.........I sortof even started sounding out my parents about a loan. My Dad suggested I let them take the house, and just deal with having bad credit for the next few years. I've thought about it. Sigh................

And that's all the news for Lake Woebegone, where the women are strong, the men are good looking, and the sheep are still scared................

I'm sorry to hear that things still aren't completely well... but you seem to be on the right path.

Wow, X-SPC. I'm so sorry that things suck so bad for you and LadyCleve. I wish I could do more for you...
So where would you end up? Still at Hood, or would the Army PCS you to a new duty ststion after your band AIT?

Still at Hood

Possibly. Technically, it's supposed to be needs of the army, but it's so short right now, and the prior service thing, that they said I may get to pick and choose from between open slots, at least where they have no pianists. Technically every band's supposed to have two, but the reality is one or nothing.

The problem is, that most of the posts with no one suck. Both fort hood bands, fort sill, drum in the frozen wasteland, both korean bands, and so on. I may shoot for the first cav band at Hood, just to not have to pick up and move again. If I did 4th ID, I'd be looking at school, straight to Iraq, and following it up with a move when they transfer to Colorado.
