Another enlightening experience with the local phone service. Here in the Killeen area the area code is 254. No problem, except everything from Waco, (1.5 hours to the northeast) to damned near Round Rock (1 hour southeast) is the same code. Some is long distance, some local.
So today I dial a number, not knowing it's local. "We're sorry, but you do not have to dial 254 when dialing this number. Please hang up the phone and try again." WTF? Obviously it's already being processed by the computer. If it's feeding me this message, they know it's a local call. Wouldn't it be simpler to set up the system to just route the call? Why punish us for being specific?
Hell, considering I have flat rate long distance, you could even route it that way for all I care. Blech.
