Hank Hill, we salute you.

I finally did it. That's right, 17 lbs of sweet liquid propane, all mine. Boredom has finally driven me to finishing a LP burner for my metalcasting furnace.......heh heh heh heh...........fire....fire. I'm about to go finish drilling the holes and try it out.

I had built a charcoal furnace, but I had a little trouble with using it to melt bronze, partly 'cause I hadn't made a proper lid for it, and partly 'cause every time it got ready to melt, the charcoal ran out, and it cooled off when I took the lid of to put more in. So............

This is utterly geeky, and utterly cool. Pictures to follow, either I'll have a cool little well controlled flamethrower..............or I'll crisp my eyebrows off (shrapnel? what shrapnel?)........either way.......

And for all of you who have no idea (or don't care) what I'm talking about, may I give you a resounding TTTTHHHHHPPPPPPTTTTTT!!!!!!! If you're psycho enough to try this, I recommend starting at this site........Link

P.S. Be sure to use welding gloves and high leather boots. It won't bring back your leg hair when you splash molten zinc on your legs, but you'll feel a lot better up 'til that point. Yeah.

P.P.S. Melting squirrels is not only illegal in most states, it just plain doesn't work well, and the smell is really hard to get out of your clothes.

Interesting hobby. Wouldn't it be easier to just paint some Mobile Suit Gundam models?

Good luck with your endeavor...I'm looking forward to the pics.
