In case you didn't guess from the title, my new bass amp is here. Picked it up from some music discount place new for a 100 bucks. What's that you say? What kind of lousy amp can you get for a $100?

Apparently a sixty watt AXL (don't ask me, I have no idea who they are) with a serious buzzing problem in the screen over the cones whenever you play an A. Not to worry, I have the solution. Took the screen off, put some friction tape over the inside edge where it doesn't even show, and put it back in.

Now it works beautifully, nice rich tone quality, plenty of equalizer for different sounds, big woofer with a wee optional tweeter, and VERY VERY LOUD (what's that? I couldn't hear you over the all caps.)

Yesterday I pulled out some John Lee Hooker and played blues until my fingers hurt too much to continue. Today? I think Muddy Waters, followed by something I've been promising myself for a long time. I'm gonna pull out my Trout Fishing in America album, and finish learning "The Day The Bass Players Took Over The World."

Now if I only had paraTed and dharma on the gitfiddle, and maybe lw for vocals, we'd be halfway to having a band............

OOOOHHHH......I'm a wee bit jealous!  I've been hankering after an amp and electric guitar for a while.

We'd have a cool bad...we could call it 'The Average Joes' or something like that.

Hey, I learned how to pick.... http://dharmagrl.joeuser.com/index.asp?AID=74320 !! I'm stoked!

Oh the fun a bass can be!! Great find on the amp!! Cool how a little initiative can turn one man's junk into another man's jam gear!

Barney Miller, Fish and Night Court Themes; Anything by Rush (if only I could keep ever keep up), Black Velvet, and of course, "Back to Ohio" (Better known as Rush Limbaugh's theme song).

Who am I kidding, out of all those, the only ones I can do are Black Velvet and Ohio!

It would be great to jam with you, Dharma and LW (and whoever else wanted to join in, with whatever else they play). I sent Dharma a lead line for "Turn the Page", I figured that would be the closest we would come to jamming, a bass line for that, or either of the two songs on my webpage would be a cool "long distance" jam session. ;~D

Albums could be "The Joes vs. the Volcano......" "Napoleon and Joe's ephine........." "Joe say, can you sing?"

Whatever you wanna play, man. I'll follow. If I can't follow on bass, I'll play piano. If I can't follow on piano, I garuantee I can follow on harmonica. Blues might be good. They're an easy jam for any group; once you've got the basic patterns, they're more or less the same for any song, and can apply to rock, country, gospel, what have ya.
