Or a wonderful first day back at work.
Hooray, I went back to work today! I felt kind of weak still, and I get tired easy, but otherwise feeling pretty good. It was also good to see a lot of people who were glad to see me back and doing well. Except.........
Except there were some people who were afraid. Among other things, a couple wouldn't even let me get nearer than seven or eight feet. I guess they'd catch the deadly plague and their heads would fall off or something........sigh. They were polite, and I understand, but it still bugs me, especially since the pneumonia I had is almost definitely from legionella, a bacteria that's usually picked up from commercial airconditioning, (sometimes spas and whirlpools, or even just outside dust) and I probably (although not definitely)got it at work.
You could french kiss me for five minutes, and chances are that even if you got something, it would only be the mild, flu-like symptoms associated with Pontiac's disease, the non-pneumonia form of Legionnaires. If this bacteria was a soldier it would be wearing a red beret........cause it's passed from spores that are AIRBORNE, not person to person.
It's an understandable fear, but I've never been afraid of catching diseases like cancer, pneumonia, AIDS, SARS, flu. Nor paranoid about lead, asbestos, aluminum salts in the deoderant, etc. I don't take unreasonable risks, but I don't let fear slow me down either. It's not their fault really, but getting that unintentional reaction from people is embarassing, and hurts a little bit. And besides, I haven't had a near fatal experience in over a week and a half..........
