So it doesn't look as good on a t-shirt.
So tommorow's veterans day, right? In remembrance of our armed forces (and armstice day before that.) What were you planning to do? Avoid the lake? Studiously NOT go to the bank or recieve your mail? Perhaps you were planning to really go over the top and fly the flag, or observe a moment of silence.......(actually I might do those last couple.)
Screw that, though. If ya want to support our troops, and the sacrifices they've made, go out and buy a veteran a beer. Or give 'em a big smeary kiss on the lips. Putting out will be considered extra credit. For those of you not up to this, try writing a letter or baking cookies. And while you do want to consider those who are in the military now, don't forget..........Old fat fogey vietnam and gulf war vets need lovin' too, or if not lovin' then at least beer.
I've been in the army over 5 years now, and while I do appreciate the occasional kind word, moment of appreciation, or ribbon I didn't really earn for being in the military at the right time, it seems to me the things that the guys remember best are the actions ya take, in this case noogies and booze.
So this year, find a soldier and say "Kiss me baby, I'm veterish."
