Yes, alcohol is a religion.......

Good evening sports fans, and welcome to all the news that is news across the nation, coming to you live from my blog. When I feel like it. Throng and adulate in the joy that is reading my word. Both of you.

Tonight, we're coming to you live from my home brewery. It's a traditional establishment, harkening back to the yesteryear of two, possibly three hours ago, 2008. Extreme microbrew fever. Today's menu? Blackberry wine. I've had fruit wines before, and they're generally delicious.

I downloaded a recipe off the web, and went to work this morning. Swung by the local brewery supplier, and picked up some campden tablets and yeast, then stopped at the first briar patch and went to work for three hours. Owwwwwwwwwwwww. I forgot what a pain in the ass picking blackberries is. It's a tossup whether my hands or back hurt worse. And then I got sick. Bleah.

It's gonna be great though. I've made the mash, killed the natural yeast, and am waiting now for the homemade syrup to cool down so I can add the sugar and yeast. A couple more steps, and in only a month or so? Mmmmmmmm. Maybe my back will be better by then.

If it all works out, I may try to distill a gallon or so into brandy. Naturally for ethanol fuel or industrial purposes only, for all you ATF agents out there reading this. Never brandy. But come on, I've been melting metal for years, and a still explosion should be nothing compared to an exploding refractory furnace wall. Really. What's the worst that could happen?

If all works out, tommorow church, then working on a Rube Goldberg device. Muhahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!

(I've really gotta start uploading pictures of all this crap again......)

Yours truly,

NBS

Just checked on my mash. It's been 20 hours, and it's risen about a foot. Sweet!
