Finally starting back up on the running today. Saw a lot of cool stuff (you always do, and it's the frickin' 4th). Hundred year old houses, cat on the peak of a third story roof, etc. And then?

About two hundred yards up the street this little wren or some such is being chased by a crow. w00t. While the drama unfolds, I'm running along, when a dozen other wrens come swooping down and drive off the crow. Cool beans, getting all nature channel up in here, and such. Except...I was combining ESPN. So the blackbird takes off being massively harried, and bird #1 decides to exit, stage right. As in right at my face. Three inches maybe. Damn.

Sorry I haven't written anything since I've been back. I've been busy with, well........ (evil snicker).  That, and putting together a new metal casting furnace. (Oddly enough, it seems Joy left my old one behind when she moved. Hmmm, I wonder how she forgot that...) The new one should have about three to four times the capacity of the old one though and is built better, and I'm a lot happier about the refractory (special concrete walls). The bottom half should be done setting, and I was thinking of firing it up without a lid and seeing if I did it right, or if it blows big holes out of the walls. Either way, what fun, right? You think you've got a firecracker?

Badass pictures will eventually follow. You want really nuts? My wedding ring is about worn out, and I was thinking about using the old gold with some more to recast one.

Also, I'm on leave, so I'm growing a beard.

Peace out,

nbs

Wrens are very territorial. They have taken on our cats a few times.
