Or in other words, an update.

Did you hear about the hijacked shipment of Viagra in Seattle? They don't know who did it yet, but the cops are on the lookout for hardened criminals......

And on that note, I went to see Pan's Labrynth yesterday. Wow.

And again, Wow.

Mister Del Toro, that more than made up for Hellboy.

Frightening, mysterious, astounding beauty mixed with unflinching brutality. And I do mean unflinching. Do Not Take Your Kids To This Movie. I'm thirty and watch a LOT of horror movies and it was almost too grownup for me at times. My hat is off to both the cinematic side of the house, editor, director, camera director, writer, etc, and the acting side of the house.

The characters were amazingly good and developed to the point that you became completely absorbed in them. Goodbye Nurse Ratchett. My new favorite human monster of the screen is the Captain (Ofelia's step-father). Incredible acting. For once, not a dull one in the bunch. And amazing ensemble. The only one that truly stole the scenes for me, was the faun itself.

Oh yes, and I worked on my hat today. For awhile at least. Then a quick trip to the post gas station turned into 3 hours of obsessively working on my Mustang. Long story short, (too late) the coil wire was fakkacta and the points were burned up pretty good. Replaced those and still got nowhere, but nowhere with an impressive blue spark! The carburator is far from perfectly adjusted, but it's getting gas. I think the spark plugs may have gotten fouled when it flooded because it was getting no spark. Stupid new ceramics. You used to store spark plugs in gasoline over the winter.........So, tommorow I try to run it on WD-40 or carb cleaner to see if it's the carburator, and then replace the plugs and plug wires.

Tonight, more movies, more hat. Almost finished. I'm having to finish the top on double pointed needles, which are new to me, but after a rough start, they're coming along very nice. I swear, whoever thought up some of the things that you do to knit........Meh.

So, off to the TV to knit, whilst smelling faintly of gasoline. Mmmmm, gasoline and wool.
Senor Fantastico,
Nbs.

Saw Pan's Labyrinth today, and I agree with "Wow". Painful to watch, and wonderful, and horrible and fantastic in the truest sense of that word. I'd recommend it to anyone who has a strong stomach and no children with them. Good luck on the hat!

I've heard that there's a shot for a second Hellboy movie due to the buzz over Pan's Labyrinth and the director's previous film (which did not have a wide release but was similarly critically acclaimed).
