An update, for those following the exciting tale that is my life.

I had a p.t. test yesterday. Apparently it is possible to skip p.t. for six months, work out like crazy the day before, and pass the test. Raw score: 54 pushups, 70 situps, and a whopping 16:00 minute two miles. My worst score in a few years, but meh.

The only bad part was the tape test (since I busted weight, obviously). 36.5 inches at the waist, and 15.75 at the neck. OUCH. Was it only a year ago I was cautiously squeezing into size 32s? Sigh......long way to come back.

I also hurt like a m-------r f---------r. That's erm, mirror father for those sick minded people who might have thought I'd say something like mother fucker on my blog. Yeah. Take two motrin and go to a firing range. Waited around until the last of the uber sergeants and officers had gone, then got to actually fire the 9 mm. Pretty cool.

Qualified on my first go round with a 96. (out of 200, not great, but it's the first time I'd fired the thing, and it was so frickin' dark by the time I got to shoot that I couldn't really see the front sight post.) In fact, we followed up by beginning the night qualification on the next round of shooters. I got one round off, then nothing, so I pulled the slide back..........and got my f------ng finger pinched between the slide and the chamber. Again, dark as hell, and unfamiliar weapon.

No big deal, but apparently they didn't want blood all over the weapon. So I got ordered by a captain and a sergeant to get my ass off the range and go see a medic. He put a band-aid on it. Sigh...............Still, all those years playing Duck Hunt payed off.

Snowy, so p.t. is cancelled today. After I got up early and drove all the way in...............But, p.t is cancelled today!!!! Woot!!!! Maybe I'll get lucky, and they'll close down post for two days right before the long weekend...............right.

All is well with the world, and surprisingly okay with the unit. Current knitting status, nothing for two days, and the last was ripping out about 3 inches and then re-knitting. Damn. Current book, Herodotus' The Histories. Book One. (and a little peter straub on the side). Current music, I think a little Mr. B or some Richard Cheese is in order. Current language, English, with a moderate chance of cursing. Current mood, kick ass.............

Bringing you the world as I know it,

peter straub

which book?

all those years playing Duck Hunt payed off.

haha.

Just last week, I drove just a block further down an old country road that I use as a short cut, and was surprised to see a skeet-shoot area. I was tempted to try it out for real, because of my prowess in Duck Hunt.

Nice one, good read.

As long as you have a bayonet you can hold off the enemy until they get within M9 range.

which book

The Night Room

As long as you have a bayonet you can hold off the enemy until they get within M9 range.

Gee, what's a bayonet? Oh, nevermind. We keep those in the back of the arms rooms. Right next to the ballistas...........

I always figured if they get that close, I can try biological warfare. Like sneezing on them.

You need to come back to San Angelo for a vacation so I can take you out to work on your pistol skills. That is a pretty low score for a Texan to get firing a pop-gun.
