Followed by the adventures of Captain Chaos!!!! Muhahahahahaha........
Beware sports fans, the sun is shining today in Tacoma, so we highly recommend you stay indoors. Don't want to ruin that beautiful catfish belly colored skin. Yum.
Slept in this morning to kill as much of the long weekend as possible. Then got up and went for a little 5 mileish run. Whee!!!! I'm giddy on what's that stuff again? Oh yeah, oxygen. They didn't have much of it at a mile up in elevation. Then I followed it up with a nice, healthy six pieces of fried chicken and two dr. peppers for breakfest. And that's whatcha call healthy.............
Also, I'm knitting away like a fiend out of sheer boredom. Sadly, I've stopped work on my afghan. (I wonder if they'll know what the hell it is if I deploy to afghanistan......) I dropped a stitch somewhere back a few rows, and it came unravelled, so I'm pissed off at it because I have to undo a couple of hours worth of work. So back to my most recent scarf.
Anyways. On that thought, I'm thinking about doing a nice, beautiful soft merino or cashmere cable knit. And knitting Southpark characters into it. Too hard? I dunno. Dharma would know how to do it. The four main kids and Butters at least. He's my favorite.
Meh. I miss my wife and cats. I still have to figure out how the hell to get them up here and find a place for them to live. Not to mention the money for all of this. I've put my 73 Mustang up for sale. Sigh...............I love that car. Doesn't matter, I've barely been able to drive it the last year and change, and I'm not driving anything spectacular over in Iraq this next year.
And last but not least, a decidedly NOT limerick movie review.
Casino Royale - Frickin' awesome. Kicks Pierce's sorry, cold fish ass right out of the water. Gets my vote for possible best Bond since good ole Scotland Forever retired. Is it just me, or does he totally remind you of Steve McQueen around the time he shot Bullit?
Happy Feet - Liked it a lot, sweet music, but some really weird moments and took some gratuitious shots at christianity.
Borat - Funny, but not worth the mental scarring. May cause emotional problems in children under the age of 85.
Stranger than Fiction - After all these years with him on Saturday Night Live, it's still a continual charming surprise that not only can Will Farrell act, he can be funny. (and no, the cowbell sketch was awesome, but it sure as hell wasn't his fault.) Absolutely loved this movie.
The Departed - Nice, Hamlet style ending. I highly recommend this movie to any young military Humint collectors out there. Dicaprio keeps on freaking me out by how much he looks and acts like my brother. Excepting of course, that my brother really is a dope dealing scumbag and has none of the noble ambitions of an undercover cop. Yeah. Excellent film. And Jack, you've still got my vote as favorite actor playing psycho nutjobs. (sorry Christopher Walken.......you just don't dance with the devil in the pale moonlight)
The Marine - Worst movie I've seen in two years, and I'm a guy that watches a lot of bad movies. I loved it. I haven't laughed so hard since watching The Day After Tommorow. Absolutely, terribly horrible. Great acting, but it was like shitting on a silver dinner tray. It just couldn't overcome the movie itself. I must own this movie. Sit back, sip a cold one, and prepare to laugh your ass off.
The Illusionist and the Prestige - Two awesome flicks. Sure they're trying to compete with each other, but they're both good flicks. Solid entertainment. And Mr. Bale, you truly rock.
Must sees (for me, I haven't seen them yet) - For Your Consideration (Chrisopher Guest!!!!), Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny, and I'm thinking about Fast Food Nation.
Must avoid at the pain of death - Deja Vu, Santa Claus 3 (damn you Tim Allen, you're likeable, but you're just not funny), Deck the Halls, Flicka, and Let's Go To Prison.
Got CQ tommorow, so until next week, same bat time, same bat station,
Yours truly,
nbs
